Thirty-five years ago , the late Dr. Charles E. Quillen, the silver tongued orator, and my distinguished predecessor at the Historic King’s Chapel Church of God in Christ in the heart of the Hamptons, advised me that “There is a young, progressive, influential family in Milwaukee” with whom I needed to be connected. Emphasizing the premise of Ecclesiastes 7:1, the name Sedgwick Daniels was a “good name”- from a stately heritage, corroborated by a record of magnificent works, birthed from a vision that transcended the status quo, and validated by a strong fol - lowing from every level of his cosmopolitan presence, his reputation preceded him. In due course, the providence of God arranged the connection, and we immediately became brothers for life. Our friendship, from its very outstart, was genuine, meaningful, and unshakable. Our uninterrupted rhythm of fellowship

brought us together on nearly every occasion: local, district and jurisdictional, supporting each other’s work with unselfish commit - ment. For as conveniently as my dear friend invited me to deliver the Word of God at his very first District Meeting as a newly appointed superintendent, he likewise mounted the central podium as keynote speaker of my Inaugural Pastoral Gala. And so it went on – just like that – serving, sharing and supporting each other, shoulder to shoulder, with like-minded unity, down through the years. As the seasons passed, the fruitful branches of the Daniels and White Families would become inseparably inter twined. The 2008 Quadrennial welcomed the seating of my beloved father, Bishop Frank Otha White, alongside Bishop Sedgwick Daniels on the General Board. The brotherhood,
